IAA Awards

Highland Central

 

The Highland Central IAA District Awards were presented at Inverness college on 3 July. From a large number of entries (in excess of 53 submissions), awards were presented as follows;

 

Best New Building; David Somerville of Somerville Design for private house ‘Roshven’, Belladrum, nr. Beauly

Commendation; HRI Architects Forestry Commision office at Smithton.

 

New life for Old Buildings; SMC Davis Duncan Architects for their extension to Glen Mhor Lodge outdoor centre

Commendation Maxwell and Company for a sensitive restoration and extension to Barkly House in Cromarty.

 

Place-making; Neil Sutherland Architects - Strathnairn Forest Shelter, Farr Strathnairn.

Commendation; Trevor Black Architects - housing development at Ferry Lane, Beauly

 

Details; Neil Sutherland Architects, Onwin Lawrence House, Strathnairn.

The Judging Panel was chaired by Ian Malcolmson, Chair of the Shetland Architectural Society, with the judging panel comprising;

 

Stuart Black, Director of Planning, the Highland Council

Drew Hendry, former Chairman of the Planning Committee, The Highland Council

Jim Alexander, former President IAA and lecturer at Inverness College

Nicky Marr, journalist and MFR broadcaster
